The national Register is a surveillance system for fatal and fatal coronary and cerebrovascular events which includes the population aged 35-74 years. The register covers eight representative areas of the country (Brianza, Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Modena, Florence, Rome, Naples, Caltanissetta) and is coordinated by the National Institute of Health (ISS).
