Within the Registro nazionale degli eventi coronarici e cerebrovascolari maggiori (National Register of major coronary and cerebrovascular events), the age-adjusted (35-74 years) attack rate for coronary and cerebrovascular events was estimated during the two-year period 1998-1999 in the following study areas using the European reference population: Brianza, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Modena, Florence, Rome, Naples and Caltanissetta.
