CuoreData

The population cohorts

Since the 1980s, as part of the CUORE Project, population surveys have been periodically conducted, collecting, also through direct measurements (according to standardized procedures and methodologies), and analyzing data related to distribution of risk factors, frequency of risk conditions, lifestyles and prevalence of cardiovascular diseases.

The adult population surveys conducted over the years are:

  • ITA-HES – Italian Health Examination Survey - Progetto CUORE
  • HES - Health Examination Survey (Italy, 2018-2019): main health indicators can be accessed through the online platform CuoreData
  • EHES - European Health Examination Survey pilot cohorts (Noale 2010, Torino 2011)
  • OEC/HES - Osservatorio Epidemiologico Cardiovascolare/Health Examination Survey (Italia, 2008-2012): main health indicators can be accessed through the online platform CuoreData
  • OEC - Osservatorio Epidemiologico Cardiovascolare (Italia, 1998-2002): main health indicators can be accessed through the online platform CuoreData
  • FINE - Finland, Italy and the Netherlands Elderly Study (Crevalcore e a Montegiorgio, 1985-200)
  • MATISS - Malattie ATerosclerotiche Istituto Superiore di Sanità (Sezze, Bassiano e Roccagorga, Priverno, 1983-1996)
  • MONICA Latina - Monitoring Cardiovascular Disease (Latina, Cori, Campodimele, Gaeta, Nettuno, Lenola, Albano 1983-1987)

Cohort data were collected and examined in the following projects:

  • Establishment of a national Health Examination Survey for monitoring the health of the general adult Italian population and as a tool for implementing and verifying some objectives of the National Prevention Plan;
  • Monitoring of the average daily consumption of sodium in the Italian population
  • Joint Action of the European Health Examination Survey;
  • Italian adult population cohorts followed longitudinally for 20-30 years: The socio-economic disadvantage and health outcomes;
  • Actions related to the reduction of salt consumption in Italy: verification of the impact of the agreement with the bakers and the "Less salt more health" program;
  • CARHES - cardiovascular risk in renal patients of the Italian health examination survey;
  • MINISAL-GIRCSI - Good Practices on Nutrition: Evaluation of the content of sodium, potassium and iodine in the italian diet;
  • The CUORE Project - Individual risk assessment, of structures and prognostic-therapeutic pathways for cardiovascular diseases;
  • Feasibility study for the implementation of the CUORE Project - Epidemiology and Prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

Several cooperation agreements have been established at national and international level:

  • Anmco - National Association of Hospital Cardiologists – Health Care Foundation (HCF)
  • National Cancer Institute of Milan
  • Imperial College London
  • MORGAM (Monica Risk Genetics Archiving and Monograph)
  • ERFC (Emerging Risk Factors Collaboration)
