The use of biological samples belonging to the Progetto CUORE cohorts to evaluate the association between plasma concentration of potential biomarkers and the risk of developing cardiovascular events in nested case control studies is one of the objectives of the institutional activity of the Department of Cardiovascular, Endocrine-metabolic Diseases and Aging of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità. Biological specimens are stored at very low temperatures in the population biobank of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità.
