Today, cardiovascular disease burden,  being the first cause of mortality and the principal cause of morbidity and invalidity in our country, constitutes a top priority issue.

The assessmnet of cardiovascular risk using the risk chart and the individual risk score id an useful way to prevent the disease. The chart and the score are tools which allow the physician to suggest possible preventive actions to be taken in order to achieve the desirable risk levels, to prevent occurrence of cardiovascular disease and to delay its onset, thus lessening the damaging outcomes.

Many advantages for individuals and for the population as a whole exist. Large-scale measurement and processing of collected epidemiological data  will enable the sanitary system to evaluate the efficacy of the strategies adopted over time with the aim of constantly improving public health interventions.

Data sending
In compliance with privacy norms, data collected by general practitioners will be sent to the Istituto Superiore di Sanità,  to be used for the epidemiological and institutional purposes set forth in the current legislation. The large-scale measurement  and processing of  data, exclusively collected in aggregate form, will enable the sanitary system to evaluate the efficacy of the  strategies adopted over time with the aim of improving public health interventions.

Collected data are anonymous (name and surname are automatically replaced by an ID code) and are used for future elaboraztion of surveys and statistics. Information is sent as e-mail attachment: in this way users can save a copy of the e-mail to the 'sent-mail' folder and view original data content anytime.

General data treatment
With regard to the “cuore.exe” website and software management methods, and in relation to the customers' personal data , a briefing that is given also in accordance to the article 13 of legislative decree n. 196/2003 entitled "Rights of access to personal data and other rights”,  is provided to those who interact with the Cuore website, accessible from  the following address: http://www.cuore.iss.it.

This briefing is not valid for other websites, which are accessible via links from Cuore website.

The briefing is based on Recommendation n. 2/2001 which European Authority for the Protection of Personal Data, assembled in the Group instituted by art. 29 of Directive No. 95/46/CE, adopted on 17 May 2001 in order to characterize some minimum requirements for the collection of personal data on-line, and, in particular, the modalities, the times and the nature of the information that the holders of the treatment must supply  to the customers when these are connected to web pages, independently from the scopes of the connection.
